Hello Friends, I'm finally able to show you piccies of our hut, even though it still has a few little finishing touches to be done. :)
Hubby designed and built the hut using recycled wood and materials given to us for free. We bought the roofing felt and the outside cladding, but everything else including the double-glazed windows were freebies. I helped hubs with the painting, and did a bit of ladder-holding, but other than that, he did it all by himself.
There are still some finishing touches to be done, like the door frame and threshold, and a set of steps. It's built into the hillside so it's on stilts.
The surrounding views are very pretty, and the hut can't be seen from the surrounding farms or roads.
The interior is a little bit uninspiring at the moment, as I haven't gone to work properly yet with curtains, etc.
We still need to find some more comfortable seating, but the garden chairs will do for now...
It's feels very peaceful inside and all you can hear are the rustling leaves of the trees and the birds.
We painted everything inside white, and kept the ceiling beams exposed too...
It's crying out for some bunting, don't you think? :)
Here's how it started, beginning last December and worked on whenever time and weather allowed, into the Spring and Summer...
There have been many cups of tea shared during the building of the hut, and it's lovely to be able to now close the door and enjoy our tea without the wind whistling around us, lol!
I'm so proud of hubby and so grateful for our little holiday home. And all done very cheaply indeed. I'll show you the prettifying bits as I do them. :) The hut is for everyone to enjoy, and I'm hoping the family will have lots of fun camping in it and just taking some time out from their busy lives.
Happy Sunday Friends! xxx
